How to Authenticate Your Sending Domain?

Domain Authentication lets you send emails from your own domain instead of a default BIGContacts sending address, which improves deliverability and keeps your brand on every message. You set it up from the Domain Authentication card under Admin › My Account.

What Is Domain Authentication?

Domain Authentication is a BIGContacts setting that connects your own domain as the sending source for outgoing emails. It lives in the Domain Authentication card under Admin › My Account, and it works by adding a set of DNS records that prove you own the domain. Once those records are verified, BIGContacts sends emails from your domain instead of a shared default address.

Why Use It?

Authenticating your domain changes how recipients and inbox providers treat your emails.

Your emails keep landing in spam. A verified domain builds sender reputation and improves inbox placement.
Recipients see a generic sending address. Authentication puts your own domain on every outgoing email, so contacts recognize you.
You need to prove you own the domain you send from. The DNS records confirm ownership and let providers trust your mail.

Example Use Cases

A sales rep sends follow-up emails from their company domain so prospects recognize the sender.
A marketing manager authenticates the domain before a campaign to keep bulk emails out of spam folders.
An account admin verifies a new domain after a rebrand so all outgoing mail carries the current company name.

Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Go to Admin in the left navigation, then open My Account.

Step 2: Click the Domain Authentication card.

Step 3: Enter your domain in the Domain Name field on the Connect your sending domain screen.

Note: Enter the domain only, without www or https:// — for example, proprofs.com.

Step 4: Copy each DNS record from the table while the status shows DNS Verification Pending.

Step 5: Add the copied records at your domain provider, then return to BIGContacts and click Verify Domain

Step 6: Confirm the status changes to Active with a Domain Verified message.

Pro Tips & Interactive Settings

Tip: After a domain is verified, use View DNS Records to review the records at any time, and Remove Domain to disconnect a domain you no longer send from.

Settings: A verified domain shows an Active status; a domain waiting on DNS shows DNS Verification Pending until all records resolve. Records include one TXT (SPF), three CNAME (DKIM and tracking), and two MX rows.
