How to Build Custom Reports?

Report Builder lets a user combine data from two modules into a single custom report when a prebuilt view isn't enough. It lives under the Reports section in BigContacts, alongside Standard Reports.

What Is Report Builder?

Report Builder is a custom reporting tool that joins two modules, such as Contacts and Companies, Contacts and Opportunities, or Tasks, into one table. A user picks a Primary Module and a Secondary Module, then customizes columns, filters, and export format for that combined report.

Why Use It?

Report Builder covers the reporting needs a prebuilt Standard Report can't.

  • Tracking data across two modules, like Contacts and Tasks? Report Builder combines them into one table.
  • Need the data in a specific file format? Export directly to PDF or CSV.
  • Checking the same custom view every week? Save it once and mark it as a favorite for one-click access.

Example Use Cases

  • A support lead builds a Report Builder view combining Contacts and Tasks to track team follow-ups.
  • A sales manager creates a Contacts and Opportunities report and filters it to high-priority deals.

An operations coordinator saves a combined report and exports it as a CSV for a weekly leadership update.

Pro Tips & Interactive Settings

Tip: A Report Builder report can only combine two modules at a time — choose the Primary and Secondary Module pairing that matches the data needed before creating the report.
Settings: Saved reports are stored under Saved Reports, and any of them can be starred to also appear in the Favorites tab for faster access.
