If you're using a Mac and running into issues while importing contacts into BigContacts, you're not alone. This usually happens due to how Mac programs like Excel 2011 or Numbers handle file formats.
Let’s walk you through two common fixes.
Excel 2011 for Mac saves spreadsheets as Comma Separated Values (.csv) files, but for BigContacts to import them properly, the file must be saved in a very specific format.
Here’s what to do:
When saving your spreadsheet, choose the file format: "Windows Comma Separated (.csv)."
This format works best with the BigContacts import tool. Without this setting, the file may not upload correctly.
Numbers don't always open older Excel files (like .xls) by default. But there's a quick workaround:
.xls to .xlsx
This simple step usually allows the file to open without issues, so you can make edits or save it in a compatible format.
Once your file is ready, head back to BigContacts and try uploading it again. If you're still running into issues, our support team is here to help!
