Change Sales Opportunity Stage Update Date (Sales Pipeline)


In real-world sales, opportunities don’t always move through stages on the same day they’re updated in your CRM. For example, a deal may have moved to “Negotiation” last week, but the rep only recorded the update today. Without the correct stage date, reports and forecasts can give a misleading picture of your pipeline.

That’s why BIGContacts lets you manually override the stage update date of an opportunity. This ensures your pipeline reflects when a stage change actually happened, not just when it was entered into the system.

How to Enable Date Editing in Your Sales Pipeline


By default, the option to edit opportunity dates is turned off. To enable it:
 

  1. Click Admin -> Customize Pipeline.


     
  2. Select Show / Hide Fields in the top-right corner.
  3. Enable option Manually enter Sales Opportunity dates (leave off for automatic).

 

Once enabled, users can manually edit stage update dates.

 

How to Edit the Stage Update Date of an Opportunity

 

When Creating a New Opportunity

 

  1. Open the Pipeline and click Add Opportunity.
  2. Fill in the opportunity details.
  3. Scroll to Override Stage Update Date and enter the correct date.
  4. Click Save to confirm.


 

When Editing an Existing Opportunity

 

  1. Go to the Pipeline or a contact record.
  2. Click on the opportunity you want to edit.
  3. Select Edit, then update the Override Stage Update Date field.
  4. Save your changes.

 

With this feature, your sales pipeline reflects the real stage progression of deals, improving accuracy in both reporting and forecasting.
