How to Link or Unlink a Contact from a Business Record

 

You can link an individual contact to a business record, enabling you to view multiple points of contact for a single company in one place. This feature is helpful for managing communication and tracking activities across different contacts within a business.

 

If a contact leaves one company and joins another, you can easily 'unlink' the contact from the current business and "re-link" them to the new business. All communication history and notes will automatically transfer to the new record, ensuring seamless management of contact information.

 

Use case:

If you're working with multiple sales representatives from the same company, linking their contact details to the company record allows you to track conversations and activities collectively. If a sales representative switches companies, unlinking them from the old company and linking them to the new one ensures that their history and notes stay intact and follow them to the new business.

To Link a Contact

 

Option 1: Using the "Link Contact" Function

 

Step 1: Navigate to Contacts in the side panel and locate the individual contact that you wish to link.


Step 2: Click on the more button (three vertical dots) and select Link Contact from the menu.

Step 3: Search for or select the business record from the list of existing businesses and click "Link Contact."

Option 2: Using the "Edit Contact" Function

 

Step 1: Open the contact that you want to link to a business record.


Step 2: Click the "Edit Contact" button.

 


Step 3:  In the Company field , search for and select the required business record.

Step 4: Click "Update" to finalize the changes.

 

 

To Unlink a Contact


Step 1: Open the contact you wish to unlink from the business record.


Step 2: Click the More button (three vertical dots) and select the Unlink Contact option.

Step 3:  Confirm the action to unlink your contact.
